Similar to the , which we learned about recently, The Paroli System is another betting system born into popularity from its value of use with roulette and baccarat. It has since been used with increasing frequency on sports betting and with increasing success.
It is a positive, progressive system that takes its name from the Latin word “par,” which means “one that is equal.” And that is because The Paroli System should only be used when the odds of success are equal. You need even odds to make this system work for you long-term.
We briefly touched on the Paroli System principles when talking about , and specifically the Anti-Martingale.
The Paroli System is the exact opposite of Martingale. Instead of doubling your bets when you lose, eventually recouping all your losses on that one big win, you double your bets following each win.
For The Paroli System, pick a target number of bets and a betting unit. We’ll use $20 as our base bet and shoot for three winning bets in a row for this example.
Bet 1: $20, win.
Bet 2: $40, win.
Bet 3: $80, win.
We hit our target of three consecutive bets, and we are now up $140. If we were to keep using the same progression, we would eventually lose it all (because an eventual loss is a certainty), making it extremely important to set a realistic target number of winning bets, and then stick with it.
So right now, up $140, we’re going to start over.
Bet 1: $20, lose.
Bet 2: $20, lose.
Bet 3: $20, win.
Bet 4: $40, lose.
Bet 5: $20, win.
Bet 6: $40, win.
Bet 7, $80, win.
It was a little tougher to get to three straight wins this time around, but we got there, and we still made a profit. We’re up another $80 to go along with our $140 from our first three-game win streak.
The real advantage of The Paroli System is its simplicity. Anyone can learn it and learn it in a day. It’s also a great system to use if you have a relatively small bankroll.
It is still gambling, which means a lot of the bets you place will be losers. So some might find it difficult to string together multiple wins in a row.
Find a sport you’re used to working and with equal odds, and still do your due diligence in finding the best probabilities of success.
This also isn’t a system for casual bettors and people who only place bets when making their annual trip to Vegas. Like all worthwhile systems, it’s built for long-term success. If you only have a single weekend to dedicate to it, you should probably use something else.
We are only increasing the bet following winning bets, so our original stake never gets too depleted. That is the big downside of negative progression systems like .
